Our traditional range
The Windsor chair tradition arose from a growing need in the eighteenth century for common, everyday chairs. Although many designs originated in the Thames Valley, English regional chair types are as various as English regional cheeses, apples, or ale. Over the years we have painstakingly researched many varieties, many of which are included in our current traditional range. Some designs we've copied from examples in the V&A Museum; some are based on barn finds and hand-me-downs. All have their own particular character.
We can supply in traditional finishes as illustrated here, or we can supply 'in the white' (unstained and unpolished) if you wish to apply your own finish. Alternatively we can 'borrow' finishes from our Modern Collection, such as white-oiled ash, or sand-blasted charcoal.
