Hardy Windsor chair awarded Design Guild Mark No 155

June 2017:

The Hardy Windsor chair designed by David Irwin has been awarded Design Guild Mark No 155, the 8th Design Guild Mark for Sittingfirm. Inspired by Thomas Hardy's poem, Old Furniture. It's an Ode to the beauty of furniture being handed down through the generations. The Hardy chair made by Sittingfirm and developed for Another Country is the first piece in the Hardy collection.

Design Guild Mark No7

May 2017:

We are pleased to confirm that we have been awarded our seventh design guild mark for a counter stool designed by Sarah Kay for Harvey Jones Kitchens.

The brief to Sarah was to design a simple, contemporary counter stool that would compliment their lovely Shaker and Linear kitchen designs. It was essential to Harvey Jones that it be made in the UK and competitively priced. So when Sitting Firm were asked to collaborate with Sarah we were pleased to get involved in the project.. Kitchens are happy places and that is how the form came about, the rest was about proportion, ergonomics and making sure it was made to last.

It cleared the workshop doorway with just 20mm to spare and was carefully manoeuvred into position. We had previously raised the roof by 500mm to allow it to operate properly.
All is now ready to get to work on some exciting projects for the new year and beyond.
